Details of the activity

Located on the right bank of the Aude, the Cité, a medieval village still inhabited, has 52 towers and 2 concentric enclosures which total 3km of ramparts. Free access day and night, via the Porte Narbonnaise and the Porte d'Aude, a large part of the Medieval City can be visited freely. Explore the city on foot, bustling with restaurants and shops, lingering in the count's castle built in the 12th century. by the Trencavels, and in the Saint-Nazaire basilica. Take advantage of guided tours by approved Speaker Guides offered by the Tourist Office throughout the year, during the day and in the evening! Listed UNESCO in 1997, it invites you to celebrate with it more than 1,000 years of military architecture.

Opening information

From October to March: last access 30 minutes before closing. From April to September: last access 45 minutes before closing. The ramparts close 30 minutes before closing and the lockers 15 minutes. From January 2 to March 31 Open daily 9.30 am to 5 pm From April 1 to September 30 Open daily 10.00-18.30 From October 1 to December 31 Open daily 9.30 am to 5 pm Closed on January 1, May 1, 1 and 11 November, and December 25. On July 14, due to the fireworks display, the two ramparts are closed to visitors for safety reasons.
