The Abbey of Valmagne is one of the essential sites to visit in Languedoc Roussillon.
It was in 1139 that Raymond Trencavel, Viscount of Béziers, founded the Abbey of Valmagne in the town of Villeveyrac, near Méze and the Etang de Thau in Languedoc Roussillon. From the 12th century to the beginning of the 14th, it was one of the richest Cistercian abbeys in the south of France.
